Believe it or not, but Scandinavian Adventure Meet (SAM) started in a hospital bed.
The thought was simple: the spirit of SpringRun and FallRun shouldn’t die with me.
Those events created something special — great riding, new friendships and the kind of camaraderie that only appears after a long day on muddy gravel roads.
That feeling deserved to live on.
The solution was to create an event that is so simple it almost runs itself.
And that became SAM – Scandinavian Adventure Meet.
What is SAM?
SAM is an easy, laid-back meetup for adventure riders.
- No pre-booking.
- No event fee.
- Come and go whenever you want.
- Just pay the camping fee.
What you get:
- Excellent self-guided routes at different levels.
- Space for tents or hammocks.
- A firepit for cooking and storytelling.
- A group of riders who all share the same love for gravel, mud and adventure.
The event is coordinated through a closed Facebook group where friends invite friends. Today we are amazingly 500+ like-minded adventure riders.
The first SAM took place in May 2023 and had 7 riders joining.
The goal from the start — set by Rushhour MC — was simple:
Create a free event with great riding and great people, without complicated planning or expensive entry fees.
Just freedom and riding.
SAM Spring – Lerkulan (May)
The spring edition takes place at Lerkulan during the Ascension Day and the following weekend, or Kristi Himmelsfärdshelgen in Swedish.
After many years of riding in the area we found that Tommy’s place at Lerkulan is perfect for SAM — great riding, plenty of space for camping, and a firepit that quickly turns strangers into friends.
This has now become a yearly tradition.
SAM Autumn – Barken Lodge (September)
Some riders also missed the feeling of the old FallRun events, so we’ll move the Autumn event from Lerkulan to Barken Lodge to accommodate more softies.
The concept is the same, but with a twist:
- Firepit can be replaced by a buffet.
- Tent can be replaced by a hotel room and clean sheets.
Camping is still possible, bringing your own food and drinks is still fine, and the event is still free.
Just like in spring, you’ll get great self-guided tracks and good company.
Where it all started.
Rushhour MC is simply a group of odd fellows who meet at an event in Ockelbo arranged by Magnus Andreasson. After sharing adventures online the group grow as more likeminded has joined over the years.
Back in 2014 we organized the first real event — FallRun2014 — and for several years we hosted both SpringRun and FallRun.
When life forced those events to change, the idea evolved into something simpler.
That idea became SAM.
Two relaxed gatherings each year where the focus is exactly what it should be:
Ride great tracks. Meet good people. Sit around a fire and tell stories.
